A new year, a chance for a new beginning, an opportunity to make changes, to do things right. But is it really a new start? How many of us make a list of resolutions, only to find at the end of the year we haven’t actually followed through on anything?
I’ve never been a big fan of resolutions- maybe because I tend to fall into the same patterns as everyone else, but I like the theory. Most of even tend to have similar resolutions: exercise, eat right, treat people better, find a new job…
I think the percentage of people who actually stick to their resolutions is less than 1%- have you ever met anyone who said on January 1 “I’m going to the gym five days a week” and was able to follow-through to the end of the year?
But the point is, really, that we are making an attempt to be better people, to make changes and most importantly- that we have hope that each new year will be better than the last.
So this year, I will again make the compulsory resolutions, with the hope that I will follow though on them just a little bit more than last year…. by the way, it’s already January 2 and I have yet to finish writing them.
